In Honor And Loving Memory Of Bill Lewis Moss
Always a hard worker, Bill Lewis Moss, began a lifetime of work as an 11 year old before and after school (working for BD LeSueur on his farm) in Dillwyn.
Bill Lewis went into the automobile business as a 27 year old becoming Used Car Manager at Lawson Ford in Appomattox and from there, he became managing partner in Lawson Ford in Farmville.
In 1984 Bill Lewis Moss, his son Billy Moss and wife, Sandra Moss founded Moss Motor Company, Inc. in Buckingham County. At that time he became a member of the Virginia Independent Automobile Dealers Association and served on the Board of Directors until the time of his death in 2021. He was chosen by his peers as the State Quality Dealer in September of 1991.
Bill Lewis was a member of Dillwyn First Baptist Church, joining at the age of 18 and served as a Deacon, Choir Member & Trustee for many years.
Bill Lewis served in the Dillwyn Fire Department for more than 60 years and was a strong supporter long after he could no longer actively fight fires.
Bill Lewis was a member of the Buckingham County Rescue Squad in the early years of the organization.
He also was instrumental in the formation of the Buckingham Chamber of Commerce in 1995 and welcomed the fact that Moss Motor was the central location for the organization.
He had a heart for the community and its citizens.
